The 4th Bin E-Cycling Competition
3rd Place Honorable Mention
A key component missing in the urban life cycle of any electronic is an identifiable place to drop/collect obsolete devices and electronics. The E-Cycle container raises the public’s awareness through transparency.
During daylight hours, the interior is completely visible, while solar energy is collected and stored by a photovoltaic top. The solar energy is then used to light the interior of the container during evening hours, resulting in a display of the contents from inside out. The container’s logo and info is illuminated to direct and instruct the user.
The container is intended for indoor or outdoor use and is able to fit through any standard doorway. All materials used in the fabrication of E-Cycle are recycled and layered in such a way that the bin can resists toxins and chemicals from the e-waste, providing a waterproof shell, while the exterior aluminum shell provides added durability. The logo is full integrated with the container and its materials. It would be cut from the aluminum skin to create a negative imprint to the logo is visible day and night. Because the interior of the E-Cycle container is illuminated using photo voltaic panels, the logo will be backlit at night. The process of ‘cutting out’ from the aluminum skin allows other logos for companies, institutions, and schools.
